Atlantic Chapter Outings Committee
Sierra Club’s Atlantic Chapter Outings Committee announces Sierra Club outings in the New York State region and beyond. All our outings are open to Sierra Club members and to the general public at no charge. Sierra Club’s Atlantic Chapter represents over 50,000 Sierra Club members in New York State (of over 3.5 million members nationwide.)
Inspiring Connections Outdoors
The Inspiring Connections Outdoors program seeks to create the next generation of environmental and social justice leaders through building community and increasing exposure to outdoor recreation, advocacy, and leadership training.
ICO is part of the Outdoors for All campaign, which works to expand universal access to nature for youth. When asked about the barriers to spending time outdoors, America’s youth cite a lack of nearby access and transportation as some of the top reasons. The Sierra Club’s Inspiring Connections Outdoors program works to reduce barriers to entry by providing gear, transportation, funding, and training to ensure that all people have opportunities to explore, enjoy, and advocate for nature. NYCICO covers all trip expenses, including transportation and food.
ICO partners with public schools to offer their students nature adventures. An orientation session for volunteer leaders is offered several times a year. Please review the Atlantic Chapter’s ICO webpage for announcements.
