Flushing Creek Bike Tour & Paddle

Join NYC H2O and the Guardians of Flushing Bay, for a bike tour that explores Flushing Creek from its source to its mouth. Participants are invited after the ride to paddle in a dragon boat in Flushing Bay with the Empire Boat Dragon Team.

Hidden in plain sight, Flushing Creek is nestled between two highways as it runs through the heart of the largest park in Queens. The Creek expands into two lakes before being confined in an underground culvert from which it re-emerges in Willets Point only to finally empty into Flushing Bay. Arguably, it is the centerpiece of Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, the site that hosted two World’s Fairs.

Flushing Bay and its Creek are plagued by combined sewer overflows during which untreated sewage and stormwater flows into them. The future of Flushing Creek is unclear: Riders will learn about why it deserves our advocacy.

Sergey Kadinsky, author of Hidden Waters of New York City, will lead this ride. Get your tickets here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/flushing-creek-bike-tour-july-23-tickets-35965134686
