Please come and testify at the two hearings to be held on the Williams Pipeline by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC).
What: Williams NESE Pipeline Public Hearing
When: Tuesday February 26, 2019 1st session @ 2:00 PM, 2nd session @ 6:00 PM
Where: Bay Ridge Manor House, 476 76th St, Brooklyn, NY 11209
At the hearings we’ll demand that the DEC deny a crucial water quality permit that the pipeline needs to be approved. This is our last chance to stop the project, and we need your help to do it.
The Williams Energy Company is proposing to build a 23-mile long fracked gas pipeline, which would carry natural gas (methane) under New York harbor. It would run along the coast of Staten Island, then cross the harbor south of Brooklyn to join existing pipelines off the Rockaways in Queens.
There are many reasons to oppose this pipeline:
▪ The Pipeline Is Both Unnecessary And Expensive.
▪ Construction Will Harm Both Human And Marine Life.
▪ Williams Has A Poor Safety Record.
▪ This Pipeline Is Incompatible With Fighting Climate Change.
