Get Active! Volunteer to Help the Sierra Club!

As a grassroots organization, the Sierra Club offers many rewarding opportunities for volunteers to get involved and effect change in our community. Don't worry about lack of experience - we all work together as volunteers. To learn more about these – or any volunteer opportunities - please contact Dan Minor.

Conservation is at the heart of the Sierra Club. The NYC Group works to promote alternative energy, to protect the quality of our air, to protect our rivers and coastal areas, and to encourage smart growth and public transportation options. We also track state and national conservation priorities. We meet to identify and prioritize conservation issues and to develop strategies for success. Your help is greatly appreciated in the following areas:

Table at Events: Help staff the Sierra Club table at events! Meet other volunteers, hand out literature.

Event Planning: Help us plan and carry our events.

Fundraising: Help with house parties, mailings, organizing, and special events.

Newsletter: Writing, editing and publication of the City Sierran, our group newsletter.

Legislative Action: We sponsor and support many environmental bills, and contact legislators and press about important legislative issues.

Inner City Outings: Bringing the outdoor experience to youth living in urban areas.

Review our Committees and see which ones you’d like to help out with.
