Some Movement on Fracking

Albany and NYC officials and State legislators are beginning to make their voices heard on the fracking issue. State Comptroller Thomas di Napoli announced the settlement of a of a shareholder resolution directed at Cabot Oil and Gas to “to publicly disclose its policy and procedures for eliminating or minimizing the use of toxic substances in its hydraulic fracturing fluids.” In addition, City Comptroller John Liu filed a shareholder suit against Exxon Mobile “calling on the company to release data to detailing its safety measures and safeguards built into the fracking process.” Finally,more than 60 legislators signed a letter  to Governor Cuomo, saying “We, the undersigned, write to express  grave concerns about the total lack of public participation for your State Department of Health’s (DOH) “Review” of New York’s “health impact analysis” of Marcellus Shale gas extraction.”   See the full story here.
