Air Quality

The Air Quality Committee is committed to improving the air of our City by testing, reporting the test results, and campaigning for better laws and practices in the burning, of fuels in the City air.

John Culpepper of the Lower Washington Heights Neighborhood Association, conducts fine particles concentration tests with Met One E-samplers to determine PM2.5 hot spots.  Results are sent to Community Boards, elected officials, and members of the NYC Department of Environmental Protection, the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and the federal Environmental Protection Agency.  Contacts are established with asthma patients and their families, since high PM2.5 concentrations damage our lungs.   Contact Mr. Culpepper at 212.665.5569 or Edgar Freud at 212.877.4394 or elfreud@aol.com
