Sustainability Series: Military’s Pollution, Spending, Legislation

Wednesday, June 10th at 7pm ET will be the next meeting of the Sustainability Series.  In this meeting, we will be discussing the military.

Below is a description of our three panelists speaking at the meeting:

  • Tamara Lorincz:

PhD candidate in Global Governance at the Balsillie School for International Affairs at Wilfrid Laurier University. Tamara  has a Masters in International Politics and Security Studies and a Law degree and MBA specializing in environmental law and management from Dalhousie University. Her research is on the climate and environmental impacts of the military. She’s a member of the Canadian Voice of Women for Peace and the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom. Tamara is also on the advisory committee of the Global Network Against Weapons and Nuclear Power in Space and the No to NATO Network.

  • Tom Gogan:
Tom is the Interim Chair of U.S. Labor Against the War NYC Chapter and a member of the National Writers Union, is active in Veterans for Peace Chapter 34/NYC and a leader in Move the Money-NYC. A longtime Metro NY area community and labor organizer, Tom is concerned about sustainable, affordable housing and our urban environment aa well as a fighter for a just and equitable city and country.
  • Sally Jones:
Sally is a community activist who has been involved with Peace Action 2002 when she helped organize a chapter on Staten Island, where she lives, to protest the impending war with Iraq. She is currently Chair of the Peace Action Fund of New York State. Sally will talk about Congress’s Role in military issues.
